Cow families feature strongly in our herd. We like our sires to have a good cow family behind them too. This maternal strength in our females helps provide uniformity in our breeding program.  Our cow herd is widely admired by our visitors.

At this point in time, the majority of our females trace back to Haroldson’s Raider ET 2Z with daughters of Oldfield Uarbry, Bowen Uriarra, LLL Nuff Said 45H, LLL Timber 65H and Cannawigra S5 Batman all performing well in our herd.  The first daughters of Debarry Petri, Tycolah DCTC and Cannawigra Commander are also starting to make their contribution.

How do they compare?

Females are shown on a very limited basis and are expected to perform under commercial conditions on their return. We have shown at Adelaide Royal Show on 9 occasions in recent years with the following results -:

1995

  • 3 heifers shown – 1st, 3rd & 6th in same class (10 heifers)

  • Junior & Grand Champion Female

  • Best Poll Hereford Female bred in SA by the Exhibitor

1998

  • 1 heifer shown – 2nd (to the Junior Champion Female)

1999

  • 1 cow & 1 heifer shown – 3rd heifer

  • 1st and Reserve Senior Champion Cow

2001

  • 1 cow and 1 heifer shown - 2nd cow (to the Senior and Grand Champion Female)

  • Junior Champion Heifer

  • Best Poll Hereford Female bred in SA by the Exhibitor

  • Member Winning All Breed Junior Champion Pair

2002

  • 2 heifers shown - 1st & 2nd in the same class

  • Best Poll Hereford Female bred in SA by the Exhibitor

2003

  • 1 heifer shown - 1st heifer

  • Junior & Grand Champion Female

  • Best Poll Hereford Female bred in SA by the Exhibitor

  • Member Winning All Breed Junior Champion Pair
